For marketing leaders with an agency

Independent agency review for marketing leaders

An independent agency review examines the agreed objectives, working relationship and supporting account evidence. James gives you a reasoned view of what is working, what needs attention and what remains uncertain.

When it helps

Make the decision explicit before commissioning the review.

This work is useful when you need to decide whether to renew, improve the relationship, investigate a concern or confirm what is already working.

  • The reports and the business outcome are difficult to reconcile.
  • A renewal or important launch needs a clearer evidence base.
  • Responsibilities, delivery or the next improvement are disputed.

Is your agency doing a good job? Start with six questions.

Answer for the service you agreed. The check turns your answers into questions for your next agency meeting. It doesn't inspect your account or grade your agency.

How it works

Give both sides a fair chance to explain the work.

Planned around four weeks after evidence readiness. Dates depend on the agreed response period and any new evidence, and are confirmed during scoping.

  1. 01 · ScopeAgree the question

The decision you need to make, the scope and the evidence needed.

  2. 02 · EvidenceEstablish readiness

Read-only access, commitments and working records are in place.

  3. 03 · ReviewExamine and test

Account evidence and records reviewed; alternative explanations considered.

  4. 04 · ResponseHear the agency

The agency responds before the report is final, and its response is included.

Possible outcomes

The answer may be confidence, improvement or an unresolved question.

A review does not need to find fault to be useful. If the evidence supports the existing approach, the report says so.

Confidence

The evidence supports the current approach. You renew knowing why.

Success map

A prioritised plan with owners, evidence of completion and a check date.

Ultimatum or open question

Clear conditions with a deadline, or a question that stays open with what's needed to close it.

Independence

Make independence practical.

Fixed fee

Never a share of spend or savings.

No commissions

No agency commissions or referral fees.

12 months

We don't seek to take over an account we've reviewed for 12 months.

Paid media management is a separate offer. Independence and any potential conflict are checked before an engagement is accepted.

After the review

Keep agreed improvements visible.

Optional oversight follows the actions and evidence after the review: £2,500 a month for an initial three-month term, with any continuation agreed separately.

Questions

What marketing leaders ask first.

What does the £8,500 review include?
The standard design covers one brand, one market, one Meta account and an agreed 90-day period. It brings together the agreed objectives, relevant commitments, working records, account evidence, agency response, report and walkthrough. The detailed sample and exclusions are agreed after the account inventory.
How is it different from the £1,950 account audit?
The account audit answers a defined question using agreed account evidence. The independent review also examines commitments, ways of working and the agency's response to support a relationship or governance decision.
Will you recommend changing agency?
Only if the evidence and agreed decision justify it. Confirming good work, agreeing improvements or recording an inconclusive answer are valid outcomes.
Do you assess every campaign and every creative?
Coverage is agreed after an inventory. Sampling limits and exclusions are stated in the report; a partial review does not become a full-account conclusion.
What happens if the evidence is incomplete?
We identify the gap and decide whether to obtain the evidence, narrow the question or re-scope. We do not fill an unsupported conclusion with a score.
